About us

We are a team of three researchers working at Lancaster University in the Spectrum Centre for Mental Health Research.

The Spectrum Centre for Mental Health Research was set up at Lancaster University in February 2008 to conduct research to develop, test, disseminate and implement psychosocial interventions for mental health problems that are clinically effective. The centre has a major focus on interventions to improve clinical outcomes for people with Bipolar Disorder.

Nicholas Todd

Doctoral Researcher

Nicholas Todd completed his degree in Psychology at Lancaster University. He has previously worked as a Mental Health Advocate and worked on a number of research projects, including; Executive Control in Children, Childhood Anxiety Disorders and Living Life to the Full Computerised Therapy. He is now a Doctoral Researcher in the Spectrum Centre for Mental Health Research. Alongside this he is an Associate Mental Health Act Manager for Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust and holds an Honorary Assistant Psychologist appointment in Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Dr. Fiona Lobban

Senior Lecturer in Clinical Psychology

Fiona Lobban completed her degree in Experimental Psychology at The Queens College Oxford in 1994 and went on to complete a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology (1998) and PhD in Clinical Psychology (2003) at the University of Manchester. She has worked for many years in the NHS as a Clinical Psychologist and currently works at Lancaster University where she is Assistant Director of the Spectrum Centre for Mental Health Research. She lives in the Lakes and enjoys playing out on her bike in the hills.

Professor. Steven Jones

Professor of Clinical Psychology

Steven Jones completed his PhD and clinical training at the Institute of Psychiatry where he also worked as a Lecturer before moving to the North West. Here he started work as a Clinical Psychologist in the NHS. More recently he was Reader in Clinical Psychology and Academic Director of Clinical Psychology Doctorate at University of Manchester until taking up his current post as Director of the Spectrum Centre for Mental Health Research.
